Program Description and Learning Objectives
Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) can provide business owners, their employees, and even the USA, itself, with enticing benefits. All Tax and Business Succession Advisors should be familiar with these benefits, but only few are. In this presentation Lou intends to remedy this. Lou will inform the attendees of most of these benefits, but primarily focus on the few that I believe are potentially suburb. Lou will analyze these and provide examples of what can be accomplished through their use, and critique misplaced negatives that are sometimes advanced to discourage ESOP adoption. The tax and other potential attainable through ESOPs is incredible, but few really know this - probably because ESOPs are quite complicated and mistakes can be costly. I would enjoy providing all who can attend with basic knowledge in this area and challenge them to show me where I am wrong. Many should attend, but probably won't. Instead they will be missing a 'big boat." Let's explore and have fun.
About the Presenter
Louis H. Diamond, Esq., Managing Member of Diamond ESOP Advisors PLLC, is one of the leading ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) attorneys in the country. His work with ESOPs is all encompassing, ranging from representing owners selling stock to an ESOP, employees pooling ESOP funds to purchase their division/subsidiary from corporations large and small, banks and others making ESOP loans and ESOPs themselves and their trustees. Representing the employees of the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute (now Alion Science and Technology) in a $130 million employee buyout of its operating assets is among Mr. Diamond's most notable ESOP achievements.
