Ms. Thomas joined
the Comptroller's office in April 2014. Prior to joining the
Comptroller's Office, Ms. Thomas worked in Towson, Maryland as an
attorney practicing the areas of estate planning, trust
administration, estate administration, and estate taxation. Ms.
Thomas received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Political
Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006 and her Juris
Doctor from the Catholic University, Columbus School of Law in
2011. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2011 and the
Pennsylvania Bar in 2012. Ms. Thomas is also a member of the Howard
County Bar Association, the Maryland Women's Bar Association, the
Maryland Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, and the Committee
on Women in the Profession of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. She
was selected to the 2013 and 2014 Super Lawyers Maryland Rising
Stars lists.
Ms. Thomas is
currently a Tax Consultant with the Comptroller of Maryland and is
responsible for responding to tax inquiries, examining and editing
Maryland estate tax returns and refund claims, reviewing closing
letters, waivers and payment plans, performing legal research
regarding estate tax laws, regulations, policies and procedures,
and assisting in the review of legislation, writing analyses and
revising forms, among other duties.
