Program Description

This program will provide an overview of U.S. withholding tax requirements on payments to foreign persons with particular discussion of the tax withholding and reporting requirements applicable to payment to foreign persons for services; including source of income rules, effectively connected income, withholding agent liability, treaties, and penalties.

About the Presenter

Thomas J. Howard  

Thomas J. Howard is a highly motivated professional with strong tax technical and analytical skills. Tom has over 20 years of experience in US international and federal tax matters. Previously, Tom was an international tax partner/principal with Ernst & Young, and director of tax for a $3 billion medical device company. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Drexel University, for the Masters program International Taxation course. Tom specializes in assisting corporate tax departments with tax planning and implementation, acquisitions, reorganizations and income tax accounting. He has worked with clients in various industries including manufacturing, medical device and technology.

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION

AAA-CPA  continuing education programs are designed to meet the needs of Attorneys and CPAs and to qualify for credit both as CPE and CLE. Of course, the decisions of various state authorities determine the actual credit granted. There are no prerequisites or advance preparation requirements for this course.

Accounting CPE/Legal CLE/MCLE

The American Association of Attorney-CPAs is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website www.learningmarket.org. These programs meet the NASBA standards of 1 (50 minute) hour of instruction.  If you require CLE in a state not mentioned, please call our national office and we will do our best to arrange for credit in your state.
