AAO CME Opportunities

The American Academy of Osteopathy strives to be a pre-eminent, worldwide source of education on osteopathy. In this context, osteopathy is defined as the basic osteopathic principles, palpatory diagnosis and osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT).

The Academy’s educational ventures include:

  1. sponsoring continuing medical education (CME) programs in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine (NMM/OMM);
  2. carrying publications relating to NMM/OMM in the AAO's online store; and
  3. establishing outreach programs to preserve and advance osteopathic medicine as a parallel and distinctive mainstream medical profession.

The task of the Academy is to bring to many thousands of persons an extra dimension of health care not provided by orthodox medicine today. It is the object of the American Academy of Osteopathy to develop and teach manipulative skills to physicians in a variety of ways, so they, in turn, may better serve their patients.

The AAO serves this purpose by presenting an annual four-day Convocation in March, a conjoint didactic program in October at OMED, the American Osteopathic Association's annual convention and scientific seminar; as well as various one- to four-day hands-on workshops throughout the year.

Mark your calendars to attend the Academy courses listed below or any of the Academy-affiliated courses to complete the AOA CME requirements.
