From the Editor

Marika I. Wrzosek, MD, 8/9/2017

Dear AAP Bulletin readers,

Summer is well underway, along with the buzz of Annual Meeting planning!  This edition of the Bulletin, the last before we gather in Denver for our Annual Meeting, highlights many new happenings for our organization.  I trust many of you will join in the energizing atmosphere in Colorado as we recalibrate and rejuvenate!

Our leadership team highlights the new offerings at the Annual Meeting click here.  Several new events will grace the program, and classics will return to ensure we hit the Annual Meeting theme of “High Stakes, Higher Hopes for Psychiatric Education.”  In addition, we are incentivizing Annual Meeting tweeting – so if you don’t have a Twitter account, be sure to get one before Sept 6!  Stay tuned for details in the coming weeks!

Meanwhile, Sandra DeJong, the AADPRT president since the March AADPRT Annual Meeting, addressed how AADPRT is joining the fight in the opioid epidemic click here.

Pankaj Lamba tackles our early career perspective click here, and now PGY-2 Kat Jong provides a trainee voice with the Flight of Ideas feature click here.

Ann Tennier and Laura Roberts share updates from Academic Psychiatry click here.

Our “What We’re Reading” intermittent column now includes a well-matched partner in “What We’re Writing”; you can read more about it click here

Meanwhile, I hope you are enjoying the remaining long days of summer as a new academic year takes off.  I trust you already have saved the Annual Meeting dates in your electronic calendar of choice, but just in case you haven’t please mark this down, book your hotel, and find a flight!  Looking forward to record numbers of attendees!
