Straight Facts About Jointed Precast Concrete Pavements

This is the fifth installment of our five-part series on jointed precast concrete pavements presented by the National Precast Concrete Association and the American Concrete Pavement Association.   

This is an important topic for agencies/owners, contractors, consultants and others with an interest in precast concrete pavements.  In this webinar, we will take a closer look at some of the ways jointed precast concrete pavement technology and products are being improved upon, as well as what potential improvements and applications are or soon will be available.

Our webinar will begin with a course overview and recap of webinars 1 through 4 in this series, and also will include presentations on these topics:

  1. JPrCP System Components: Current Practices (including Pros/Cons) and New Developments
    a. Measuring Pavement Surface Profile and Geometry (Digital Surface Modeling) Precast panel design and fabrication
    b. Methods of positioning slabs 
    c. Methods of bedding slabs 

  2. Innovations and Future Directions for Jointed Precast Concrete Pavement Systems 
    a. Unbonded (or bonded) precast overlays
    b. Repairs for CRCP
    c. Re-movable and re-usable pavement (RUP = Re-usable Urban Pavement)
    d. Instrumented pavements

  3. Incremental reconstruction (adding new precast to previously placed)
    a. New technology-dissemination initiatives 
    b. Reaching owners and specifiers (R05 programs)
    c. Developing more guidance documents
    d. Improving specifications


This 2.0 hour training event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15th. The event will be held at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Eastern) | Noon to 2:00 p.m. (Central) | 10:00 a.m. to Noon (Pacific). Although this is a 2.0 hour module, please allow extra time -- as much as 2.5 hours total -- for questions and administrative details.

The American Concrete Pavement Association and the National Precast Concrete Association will award 2 professional development hours (PDH's) to those wishing to complete an optional “evidence of learning exam” following the webinar.   Participants interested in earning PDH’s are urged to check with their local licensing authorities to determine the acceptance of this course prior to registration.
