New Opportunities and Insights to Manage ASCVD Risk
This webinar features 2 leading experts in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk reduction who will address its management with adjunctive therapies to statin use. The faculty will evaluate the clinical value of recent, large-scale randomized clinical trials. One of those trials, REDUCE-IT, showed dramatic reductions in ASCVD events for patients with clinical ASCVD or diabetes and ≥1 risk factors. The use of purified eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) in these patients has recently been recommended in multiple guidelines and is FDA approved. The faculty will provide succinct information and practical clinical advice on 5 key areas of lipid management to prevent ASCVD events: 1) key concepts of the 2018 Multisociety Blood Cholesterol Guidelines; 2) triglycerides, their remnants, and their relationship to ASCVD; 3) the latest large-scale clinical trials on lipid-lowering therapies; 4) omega-3 fatty acids as statin adjuncts in ASCVD event reduction; and 5) practical considerations on the use of statins and statin adjuncts.

Following the presentation, a 15-minute+ live Q&A will allow interaction of the participants with the faculty.
