Description
AMTA adopted a new Code of Ethics February 1, 2019. Many allied health professions have adopted an aspirational approach to ethics. Learn about this aspirational approach and how it asks each professional (or student) to take more responsibility for monitoring personal conduct and decisions while holding the best interests of the client at the forefront of the decision-making process.
Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to identify the benefits of an aspirational approach to ethics. (IV.B)
2. Participants will be able to apply items from the new code of ethics to ethical dilemmas. (IV.B.)
3. Participants will develop a personal plan of action for integrating this new approach to ethics in to their practice. (IV.B)

Part I Introduction – History & Basics of ethical thinking. (60)
Part II Review of new AMTA Code of Ethics – similarities & differences. (45) Break (15 minutes)
Part III Ethical Decision Making Models – review and practice with full group (60)
Break (15 minutes)
Part IV Ethical Dilemmas (Small group and dyad work including time for sharing potential solutions and processes) (90)

Part V Implementing the new code – personal action plans with discussion and questions (30)
