With the AMTA Ethics Board, discuss recent trends in ethical concerns identified by AMTA members. Explore predetermined scenarios, identify the ethical dilemma(s), and practice using an ethical problem-solving method to generate potential solutions and their consequences. Discussion points include topics such as the impact of current topics on professional practice, their effect on collegial relations, and maintenance of self-care.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will verbalize how the COE applies to music therapy practice. (CBMT Domain V. B. 2)
- Participants will demonstrate use of one of Ethical Decision-Making models presented. (CBMT Domain V. B. 9)
- Participants will verbalize understanding of how federal and state laws, rules, and regulations may affect practice.(CBMT Domain V. B. 3)
- Participants will identify ethical responsibilities that concern self-care. (CBMT Domain V. B. 12)
Schedule:
- 15-minutes introduction;
- 30-minutes CODE review and;
- 30-minutes ethical decision making- exploring models;
- 35-minutes current ethical issues in music therapy reviewed;
- 15-minutes break;
- 60-minutes case study discussion;
- 30-minutes lunch/meal
- 60-minutes participant chosen topics;
- 20-minutes final discussion wrap-up and questions.
