Description

The Forest Service Recreation program has developed five priorities to guide the future of recreation opportunities in National Forests.  Ms. Bustam will reveal how those priorities relate to your outfitting business.  She will also reveal which areas the Forest Service has selected as high priority for trail maintenance as required by the National Forest System Trail Stewardship Act, and how the pilot program allowing fee credits for trail maintenance by outfitters is going to be implemented.  The Forest Service is also modernizing its special uses program with a focus on services to youth and underserved groups.  For example, the Forest Service is considering when to allow groups to operate without permits under a “nominal effects” criteria.  Clarifying when needs assessments, capacity analysis, and NEPA compliance are required for new and renewing permits is also under consideration with the goal of reducing red tape. Learn how and when these initiatives may affect your business.
