DESCRIPTION
Join us for presentations and discussions of issues affecting the pediatric clinician, including: Nutritional Status and Impact on Clinical Outcomes; Nutrition Focused Exams; PN Formulations, ILEs, Minerals, and Micronutrients; NICU Nutritional Challenges; Critical Care; Cardiac Disease Issues and Outcomes; Oncology; and Intestinal Failure.

1. Explain importance of nutrition assessment in pediatric populations
2. Evaluate association between nutrition assessment and clinical outcomes

Nutrition Focused Exam: Physical Manifestations of Nutritional Disorders
1. Identify unique aspects of pediatric nutrition focused physical examination (PNFPE)
2. Evaluate the presence of edema or fluid accumulation
3. Describe clinical signs of micronutrient deficiencies and toxicities

Clinician’s Primer on Parenteral Nutrition Formulations, Intravenous Lipid Emulsions, Minerals, and Micronutrients in Pediatric Patients
1. Summarize the different parenteral formulations and their indications
2. Describe the different minerals, micronutrients and their alternatives during shortage
3. Summarize the different lipid emulsions and their application

Nutritional Challenges in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units
1. Analyze growth patterns in premature infants
2. Describe the monitoring techniques and parameters in the NICU
3. Assess feeding challenges and their management in preterm infants

Optimizing Nutritional Care During Pediatric Critical Care Illness
1. Explore current recommendations and research gaps in pediatric critical care nutrition
2. Discuss the association between nutrient intake during critical illness and outcomes
3. Develop nutrition interventions within limitations of PICU environment

Cardiac: Nutritional Issues and Outcomes in Cardiac Disease
1. Explain the impact of nutrition interventions in children with congenital heart disease
2. Analyze barriers to optimal nutrient intake among infants after cardiac surgery
3. Define strategies for improving nutrient intake in children with cardiac disease

Nutritional Needs and Intervention for the Pediatric Oncology Patient
1. Define the prevalence and manifestations of nutritional disorders in pediatric cancer
