May 05, 2017 01:30pm

Event Description

Although financial organization personnel do not give tax advice to clients, IRA administrators still may find themselves fielding legal questions. This webinar covers some of the more common legal issues that may arise with IRAs, such as powers of attorney, guardianships, creditors, beneficiary issues, and divorce.

After attending this IRA webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Distinguish between a power of attorney (POA) and guardianship,
  • Recognize the types of creditors IRAs may be subject to,
  • Describe protections under the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Act,
  • Facilitate a transfer or rollover due to divorce or legal separation,
  • Determine who receives the IRA assets upon the IRA owner’s death when a beneficiary is not listed, and
  • List the basic requirements of a valid disclaimer.
