This two-day advanced workshop is designed to improve coding skills and knowledge by assisting coding professionals with coding of advanced cases in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS. Join us for one or two days of extensive training related to the complexities of ICD-10-CM and PCS coding.

This advanced workshop is intended for intermediate coding professionals. Attendees should have basic understanding of the ICD-10-CM and/or ICD-10-PCS definitions and guidelines before arriving to class.

Day One: ICD-10-CM - Wednesday, February 19
The ICD-10-CM day encompasses day-to-day and complex challenges for coding and CDI professionals and will include: challenging coding conventions and guidelines, sepsis criteria and sepsis denials, detailed review of diabetes “with” convention and coding, HCC documentation and coding issues, outpatient CDI and queries, challenging case reviews, and practice case scenarios.

Required Materials: Attendees must bring a 2020 ICD-10-CM code book to the CM workshop. Laptops are welcome to access handouts. Handouts must be downloaded in advance. Internet will not be provided.

Day Two: ICD-10-PCS - Thursday, February 20

This workshop will use case studies to help attendees learn advanced concepts of ICD-10-PCS and understand these complex subjects. Advanced cases will be coded in the nervous system and skeletal system relating to intracranial and spinal procedures. Spinal fusion and complex intracranial tumor removal will be tackled.

Required Materials:  Attendees must bring a laptop and power cord for this PCS workshop. Attendees will be provided with links to the 2020 CMS PCS files (both Tables and Index and the Guidelines) to be downloaded and installed prior to class. Internet access will not be provided or needed.
