This two-day Advanced Workshop is designed to advance your knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS to the next level. This program is intended for intermediate coding professionals. Attendees should have a basic understanding of the ICD-10-PCS and ICD-10-CM definitions and guidelines before arriving to class.

Join us at the Embassy Suites Anaheim South, 11767 Harbor Blvd., Garden Grove, California for one or two days of extensive training related to the complexities of PCS and CM coding.

 

Day One: ICD-10-PCS
This PCS day will help you learn how to approach procedures with confidence. Topics include: identifying the ‘real’ objective of procedure, using cases with a musculoskeletal theme. Learn the tips on root operation selection while working through detailed operative reports. After attending this program, attendees will be able to apply the new body part and device values for 2018 and gained a deeper understanding of musculoskeletal procedure coding; including muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and amputations.

 

Required Materials: Attendees must bring a laptop and power cord for this PCS Workshop. Attendees will be provided with a 2018 ICD-10-PCS file and excel workbook to be downloaded and installed prior to class. Internet access will not be provided or needed.

 

Day Two: ICD-10-CM
The CM day will cover day-to-day and complex challenges for coding professionals including: possible/rule-out; clinical criteria; coding queries; hypertension; myocardial infarction; injuries/external causes; secondary diagnoses; signs and symptoms; ICD-10 auditing and

 

Required Materials: Attendees must bring a 2018 ICD-10-CM code book to the CM Workshop. Attendees will be provided with materials to download/print prior to arriving to the workshop. Internet access will not be provided or needed.

 

Continuing Education
This program has been approved for six continuing education units for use in fulfilling the continuing education requirements of AHIMA’s Commission on Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management (CCHIIM). AAPC: AHIMA CEU’s are accepted from programs sponsored by AHIMA national offices and the state AHIMA branches hour for hour. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing; provider number 05474 for six contact hours. Certificates of attendance will be provided.
