Improving the accuracy and specificity of coding and reviewing documentation in renal diseases is important for coding professionals, such as acute kidney injury (AKI), acute tubular necrosis (ATN) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) with its stages.
Attendees will gain a better understanding of the definitions and updated changes in reviewing the documentation for kidney-related diseases, and will be able to define the diagnoses and clinical indicators to enhance coding accuracy. This presentation will provide guidance for implementing compliant physician queries and how the documentation and physician response can impact the severity of the illness classification, risk of mortality, physician and hospital reimbursement.
