Join health information management and coding professionals to gain an understanding of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) updates for calendar year (CY) 2018. Gain valuable insight as to how these changes might impact your health care organization, including a discussion of the reason(s) why changes to the code set have been made. During this seminar, participants will learn about the CY 2018 code changes, review guidelines and gain an understanding of how to apply and use the codes in various scenarios when applicable to a code change or bundling rule.
Also during this seminar, Evaluation and Management (E&M) Documentation and Coding Essentials will be presented. Common misconceptions on coding appropriately for E&M services will be discussed. An understanding of how to increase revenue by appropriately understanding the documentation guidelines will be reviewed. High risk areas and compliance concerns will be shared with valuable information that includes a description of how to reduce risk at your facility.
Lastly, Outpatient Clinical Document Improvement (CDI) Processes will be reviewed including the beginning steps to ensure that your outpatient claims are not denied due to unspecified diagnosis codes. The process of establishing an outpatient CDI program within your facility will be shared.
Participants should bring the 2018 CPT coding manual for reference.
