Background and Content
Professionals in various fields interact with military families on a regular basis and a working knowledge of military life is essential to relate to this population. To prepare professionals and paraprofessionals to serve military members, veterans, caregivers, and their families, CWLA in partnership with Boots on Ground Consulting, Inc., offers a Military Family Specialist Certificate for professionals and paraprofessionals. The certificate program includes a series of ten online and in-person courses. The first course in the series serves as a foundation for the other courses and is titled Boot Camp: An Introduction to Military History, Culture, and Customs. During this course, participants will interact with current and former service members and experience military life by staying on an active military post.
