Is the PRIDE Model of Practice for you?  Is your agency concerned about foster parent recruitment and turnover?  Do prospective foster and adoptive parents drop out of preservice training? Does your preservice training program provide resource parents with the competencies needed to work with children who join their families?  Does it facilitate an informed family assessment (home study)?  Are the skills taught to prospective resource parents reinforced by staff who work with them after children are placed? If you answered yes to these questions, CWLA and FosterParentCollege.com invite you to bring the New Generation PRIDE Model of Practice to your agency.

The New Generation helps ensure that staff who interact with resource parents – through recruitment, orientation meetings, preservice training, home studies/assessments, matching, and ongoing teamwork – share the same agency mission, objectives, and best practice skills.  The New Generation of Foster PRIDE/Adopt PRIDE integrates the benefits of preservice in-person group sessions, family assessment (home study), and online self-paced training to meet the needs of diverse families and agency resources. This model features innovative, cost-effective strategies with proven-effective techniques, interactive vignettes and examples from the field, and focuses on the five PRIDE Model of Practice competency categories: protecting and nurturing children; meeting developmental needs and addressing developmental delays; supporting children’s relationships with birth families; connecting children to safe and nurturing relationships intended to last a lifetime (permanency); and working as a member of a professional team. Major benefits also include decreasing the number of preservice training sessions (saving cost, travel, and time), increasing training quality and standardization, and strengthening family assessments (home studies).  For additional information, please visit New Generation PRIDE Model of Practice.

Participants and Facilitators: This training is designed for staff responsible for resource parent recruiting, assessing, selecting, training, and retaining.  Participants will be of most benefit to their agencies if they come with the expectation and skills to implement what is learned when they return.  A team with expertise in PRIDE Model of Practice development and implementation will facilitate the training.
