Connect (& More): GWA @ Cultivate'17
Saturday, July 15 - Tuesday, July 18
GWA will again have a major presence at the horticulture industry’s largest trade show, Cultivate’17 (#Cultivate17). GWA's Association Outreach Committee has again arranged for GWA members to gain special access to the trade show, education sessions and other valuable networking events. Let’s see if we can set some records for GWA presence this year! GWA Members Qualified for Complimentary Registration at must-attend Cultivate’17.
AmericanHort, the association that organizes the Cultivate show, has generously granted GWA members a special complimentary pass worth $350. The educational sessions and tours begin on Saturday, July 15. The trade show runs Sunday, July 16 through Tuesday, July 18.
Cultivate will include a workshop and inspiration series. CarrerUP is an AmericanHort program designed for young horticulture professionals and will take a look at the scenarios they may find themselves in. This program seeks to provide you with the tools and skills you need in a professional and entry-level management setting while also inspiring you with open, honest conversations with those who already have experience in the field. This will be a chance to network with other young professionals in the industry, and get motived to continue growing.

GWA Connect Lunch
There will be a GWA BYO Brown Bag Lunch on Monday, July 17, 12:00PM - 1:00PM. GWA leadership will lead the group with a brief meeting and introductions followed by networking and member updates. Registration is free and non-members and visitors are welcome to attend!
GWA will again have a booth on the trade show floor, #1311, and anyone willing to volunteer to work the booth for an hour or two should email Alexa Haller with your schedule of availability. Working the booth is a great way to meet growers, garden centers and others who could use your skills.
The presence of GWA at Cultivate’17 will serve two primary purposes: 1) to expose our members and their talents to potential clients and 2) to explain the value of GWA membership to potential new members. This is an extremely valuable networking opportunity that you should not miss.
At the corner of Energized and Ready-for-More, AmericanHort is throwing a Block Party for all attendees. Join those you’ve met on the trade show floor as well as in the education sessions and relax. Have a great time on Sunday, July 16 at 5:15PM - 7:30PM.
Seize this opportunity to witness and evaluate the performance of new and recently introduced cultivated plant varieties under typical Central-Ohio environmental conditions. Board a free shuttle at the convention center for a short ride to The Ohio State University Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens to view the Annuals Trial. Plants are grown in in-ground beds, containers, and hanging baskets, where you can observe growth habits, tolerances, and visual characteristics of nearly 700 trialed varieties. Also get the cool chance to walk through Howlett Hall's "green roof." Monday, July 17 starting at 5:00PM.
Mon. July 11, 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Callahan’s Columbus, 520 Park St.
Hosted by the AmericanHort GenNext community, you’re invited to meet up at a local Columbus bar, grab a drink, and unplug from a day of hard work. Plus, test your knowledge with the ongoing Cultivate Trivia competition.
The GWA AOTF Committee and AmericanHort are proud to provide you with one of the best educational and networking opportunities in the country with a value of over $400.00 (including the educational sessions, press luncheon and trade show).
