Certain laws restrict behavior, while others just require submission of standardized forms. All are meant to curb corruption and instill confidence in the minds of the citizenry. Lawyers whose client is the public should remain mindful not just of the requirements and procedures, but also the spirit of good governance and the broad unwritten ethical responsibilities that come with that practice…..

Alan Bojorquez, has Merit Certification in Municipal Law from the Texas City Attorneys Association. His firm has a state-wide practice with 13 lawyers officing in 5 regions. Alan previously served as a staff attorney for the Texas Municipal League. He graduated from Texas Tech University with his Bachelor of Arts in English, Master of Public Administration, and Doctor of Jurisprudence. Alan is on the Board of Directors of the Texas City Attorneys Association, and is Texas Chairperson for the International Municipal Lawyers Association. He is on the Board of Directors of Scenic Texas, and founded the Texas Center for Municipal Ethics (a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation). Alan was the Chairperson for the 2015 and 2016 University of Texas School of Law’s annual Land Use Planning Conference. He authors the Texas Municipal Law & Procedure Manual (6th Ed.).
Roberta "Robin" Cross currently works as the Township Attorney for The Woodlands Township, Texas. She has over eighteen years’ experience working for local governments and was recognized as an IMLA Fellow in 2013. She has also worked as in-house counsel for a police labor union and for the EEOC, as a trial attorney. She is licensed to practice in Texas and admitted all of its federal courts, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. She has been Board-certified in Labor and Employment Law since 1992 by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She was appointed as Vice-President of IMLA’s Personnel Section in the fall of 2015. She enjoys employment law, among other things, because "you can't make this stuff up."
