Construction - 2022 Global Construction Disputes Report

Current events have introduced a high degree of anxiety and uncertainty to the construction industry across the globe.  This webinar focuses on the top causes of disputes in 2021 and provides tangible actions to mitigate disputes on projects.  After attending this presentation, participants should be able to describe the current events and challenges affecting the construction market; describe the top techniques for mitigating disputes; explain potential solutions for avoiding disputes; and discuss the top causes of disputes and methods for effectively avoiding them.

Speakers: Roy Cooper, Bryan Payne, and Ben Eiss

Roy Cooper is a senior vice president and leader of Arcadis’ Contract Solutions group in North America where he is responsible for all of Arcadis’ claims related service offerings including providing expert testimony, claims analysis, schedule review services, constructability reviews, cost estimating and quantitative risk assessment. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University along with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut. He is a Professional Engineer registered in the states of Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Texas. He has over 30 years of construction experience, including the analysis and review of complex construction claims from the beginning stages through trial support and expert testimony. Bryan Payne brings 27 years of experience in the transportation, higher education, and healthcare construction sectors in construction management, claims avoidance and mitigation, mediation, and contract administration. His strength is in solving construction problems and resolving disputes before litigation and getting broken programs back on track. Bryan has proven expertise in working on programs with shared governance, multiple funding sources, and complex grant requirements. He is used to working closely with governing board members and is an experienced public speaker. Bryan is a Registered Civil Engineer and a licensee attorney of the State Bar of California. He has served as mediator for over 50 litigated cases for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Ben Eiss provides technical support and has experience in project organization, document filing, mass data entry, scheduling support, and graphical analytics. He has been involved with the evaluation of claims on various projects and has a strong grasp of data processing software such as Microsoft Excel, Access, and Power BI and has experience with more specialized software such as Primavera Project Scheduling, and the Adobe suite of applications.
