Diversity Webinar-Implicit Bias for Government Lawyers
This presentation will discuss what implicit bias is and why it’s important for government lawyers to be concerned about their implicit biases. The presentation will also provide tips on how to combat and eliminate biases in the legal workplace.
Speaker: Tara Kelly
Tara M. Kelly has worked for the City of Kansas City, Missouri since 2012, starting in tort litigation and moving to corporate litigation in 2013. Her practice consists mainly of employment litigation, constitutional challenges to City ordinances, contract litigation, and fire department litigation. Prior to working for the City, Tara worked for a large law firm in Washington, DC specializing in corporate insurance recovery litigation before opening her own firm in Virginia. She graduated with her Bachelors’ from the University of Kansas and her law degree from The American University, Washington College of Law. She spent two years clerking for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals immediately following law school. Tara regularly speaks on topics such as trial advocacy, sovereign immunity, and implicit bias.
