Transportation Oriented Development
This will be a comparative presentation on how Atlanta has handled transportation-oriented development in their communities. This presentation will explore legal issues associated with this type of development and highlight the benefits of thoughtful planning as it can support economic development. Additional topics may be included.
Speaker: Jonathan Hunt
Jonathan J. Hunt is a Senior Director of Corporate Law for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). His practice focuses on a broad range of matters involving corporate, real estate, development, construction, public finance, intellectual property, procurement, regulatory and intergovernmental matters. Prior to joining the MARTA, Jonathan served as the Sr. Assistant City Attorney with the City of Atlanta, Georgia. While with the City, Jonathan represented, among other concerns, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport – the world’s busiest airport. Additionally, Jonathan practiced law for six years with the firm of Dentons US, LLP. While at Dentons, his practice focused on various matters involving finance, real estate development and corporate transactions. He has represented a wide variety of companies, contractors, construction management firms, governmental entities and commercial real estate developers in the acquisition, development, financing and leasing of various projects in the commercial, retail, hospitality, industrial, medical and residential industries. In addition to real estate transactions, he has also advised clients in asset purchases, mergers/acquisitions and corporate reorganizations.
Before Dentons, Jonathan was in-house counsel for Limited Brands, Inc. where he served as primary counsel for Victoria’s Secret and Intimate Beauty Corporation. He advised senior and executive management regarding issues related to the company’s real estate, construction, new brand/store development, brand marketing initiatives, retail-roll out strategy and compliance issues. Jonathan started his legal career as an associate with Baker & Hostetler LLP, where he advised clients in various corporate, intellectual property and real estate matters.
