Event Description

The Complexities of Complex Trauma Part I: Theory and Practice 
Intended Participants: Participants must receive approval of the faculty member to attend. Licensed mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, mental health counselors, accredited psychotherapists, etc.) who are interested in developing their skills in treating clients with chronic trauma related disorders. For Part I of the course, there is no need to have a client with a chronic trauma-related disorder. This course content is at the beginner/intermediate levels.

Course Format: 6 sessions Live Teleseminar Format; 2.5 hour sessions each.
Course Dates: Fridays; Jan. 18, Feb. 15, Mar. 15, Apr. 12, May 10, Jun. 7

Dr. Rebeca Scherman is a Clinical Psychologist with a private practice in New York City. She has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families on a wide range of topics including anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, compulsive, self-destructive behaviors, relationship issues, and career/work difficulties. Dr. Scherman's diverse client base ranges from teens through late adulthood and those of multi-cultural backgrounds.  

Dr. Scherman has been in practice since 1999. She has earned an esteemed reputation for her effective intervention skills, balanced with sensitivity and compassion, in order to find solutions to a wide range of life challenges and psychological issues.  


Continuing Education Credits: 

The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), [provider number], is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. ISSTD maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: [dates]. Social workers completing this course receive 15 ACE continuing education credits.

CE Learning Systems is a co-sponsor of this event. 15 APA credits are available for this course. To earn continuing education credits, participants must complete an evaluation for each session. Students must attend 50 minutes out of each hour via videoconferencing to be eligible for APA credits.
