From Complex Trauma to Dissociative Disorders Accelerated Live Teleseminar - Baker/O'Neil
 
In the new accelerated course, participants will complete From Complex Trauma to Dissociative Disorders Parts I & II in eight months.

Intended Participants:  Licensed mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, mental health counselors, accredited psychotherapists, etc.) who are interested in developing their skills in treating clients with chronic trauma related disorders. For this course, there is no need to have a client with a chronic trauma-related disorder. Students are asked to submit a copy of their CV and license to the instructor to have on file at the time of registration

Su Baker, MEd, icensed counsellor and psychotherapist, (private practice, Montreal, QC, Canada) has a Masters degree in counselling psychology from McGill University and training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, clinical hypnosis and EMDR. She has worked in the field of trauma and dissociation as a therapist and supervisor for more than 30 years and teaches at conferences nationally and internationally.

 

She was the ISSTD Treasurer for six years, has sat on many ISSTD committees as well teaching in the Professional Training Program of the ISSTD since its inception in 2001. She is currently the Past Chair of the Professional Training Program as well as the Course Director and creator of the Level I Adult course, and co-director and creator, with Joan Turkus, MD, of the Level II and III Adult courses.

She is a fellow of the ISSTD and has received a number of other ISSTD awards. She is the co-founder with John O’Neil and chair of the Montreal Study Group on Trauma and Dissociation (MSGTD), which has been meeting monthly since 1991.

 


John O’Neil, MD,  is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in Montreal Québec. He was Assistant Professor of psychiatry at McGill University and staff psychiatrist at St. Mary’s Hospital until his retirement to private practice in June 2018. 

He joined the ISSMP&D (now ISSTD) in 1991, and has attended every annual conference since then. His private practice has progressively narrowed to the diagnosis and treatment of dissociative disorders. 

Over the years, he became a Fellow of the ISSTD, and an ASCH Approved Consultant. He has taught in the ISSTD Professional Training Program at all adult levels except the master class, in Montreal and in Burlington VT, and online. John co-taught ISSTD’s day-long introductory workshop for 8 years, and hosted the Town Hall Meetings for 6 years. 

In 2009, the 46-chapter book Dissociation and the Dissociative Disorders: DSM-V and Beyond, co-edited by Paul Dell,  was published and for which he received ISSTD’s Pierre Janet Writing Award. He is currently an assistant editor of the planned second edition of this book, now being co-edited by ISSTD Past Presidents Martin Dorahy and Steve Gold.
