Optional Modular Housing
Development Bus Tour
Modular
construction projects contributed significantly to the redevelopment of New
Orleans post Hurricane Katrina. MHI has
arranged for a bus tour of six developments on Tuesday afternoon, February 10th. During the tour, MHI members will see
firsthand the positive impact modular housing has had. Lenny Kopowski, Director of Government
Affairs for the Louisiana Manufactured Housing Association, will be the tour
guide and will highlight
each project and explain the context in which they were developed. The locations are all within a very short
distance from the Hyatt French Quarter. We are excited to have this opportunity
to showcase the industry’s work in New Orleans.

About the MHI Winter Meeting
Attending
MHI’s Winter Meeting is an excellent way to begin the year. Networking opportunities, updates on industry
issues, and setting of association priorities for 2015 will be some of the
highlights of the New Orleans meeting.
On
Monday morning, MHI members will hear Dr. Bernard Weinstein, Associate Director
of the Maguire Energy Institute at Southern Methodist University discuss the
areas of the country experiencing oil and gas booms and the woefully inadequate
housing supply still plaguing those areas.
If in the future, oil and gas exports become a practical reality, global
demand for fuel will initiate a sharp increase in U.S. drilling, which will
result in an even greater need for housing in remote areas. Dr. Weinstein will
discuss areas of the country that may be impacted.
A
general session will be held on Monday morning where MHI members will hear from
two panels. The first panel will discuss the DOE
proposed energy standards for manufactured housing, and the second will provide industry
driven solutions to the HPML Appraisal Rule requirements that will become
effective in July.
Your registration fee includes the following:
-
Networking receptions on Sunday and Monday evenings
-
Breakfast on Monday with speaker Dr. Bernard
Weinstein
-
Panel discussions on current industry issues during
Monday’s General Session
-
Lunch on Monday
-
Breakfast on Tuesday
-
Committee, board and division meetings throughout that
provide MHI members the opportunity to provide input on important industry
issues
