An Important Announcement Regarding the MOA 109th Annual Convention: We’re Going Virtual!
With the state of emergency declared at the national and state levels regarding COVID-19, the Maine Osteopathic Association Program Committee has decided to move forward with a “Virtual Convention” in lieu of our June 2020 in-person live CME event. We did not come to this decision lightly, but believe it is best to keep our members and other physicians on the front lines of this crisis safe during uncertain times.
Therefore, the MOA Annual Convention scheduled for June 5-7th, 2020 at The Samoset Resort is cancelled. However, registration will begin immediately for a “Virtual Convention” that will allow you to participate and earn your CME credits at home this year during the previously scheduled timeframe: June 5-7th, 2020.
Any reservations made at The Samoset Resort will be automatically cancelled, with notifications sent to your reservation email within 24 hours-- you do NOT need to contact the hotel. Please be sure to cancel your other travel arrangements (details below).
In these challenging times, we believe that every effort should be made to keep things as familiar as possible for our membership, therefore the MOA Program Committee will make every effort to ensure that your Convention experience is similar to that which you have become accustomed to. We will be sticking to a similar schedule, number of credit hours (20+) and opening registration with the same fee schedule as normal. Please see below for answers to frequently asked questions.
This is a new format for all of us. Please be patient as MOA staff and leadership work out the details regarding this event. We hope you will “tune in”! REGISTER NOW BELOW!
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is a Virtual Convention?
A Virtual Convention involves a live webcast via an internet browser that allows users to access pre-recorded or livestream CME content.
Will I still be able to ask questions?
Yes. Speakers will be available to answer questions from attendees on the webcast platform via chat, similar to an “in-person” experience.
Will I still get the same type of CME credit?
The Virtual Convention is still eligible for AOA Category 1A Credit, other credit types pending. We anticipate offering 20+ CME credits.
What if I am unable to tune in to all of the livesteam event?
In addition to the livestream event, you will have access to the full agenda of lectures on an on-demand basis for 30 days after the event.
How do I access the Virtual Convention Platform?
MOA Staff are working with a vendor to set up the online webcast platform. Please register as normal via the www.mainedo.org website. You will be sent instructions on accessing lectures well in advance of the livestream event. MOA staff will be able to assist you with accessing both the live webcast and on demand playback content options.
What about the Lobster Dinner Opening Reception, Awards Luncheon and other special events?
At this time, we believe that postponing these social events is the right call to make, however our hope is that we will be able to hold some of these special events that our members and their families’ look forward to later on in the year. Please note that the MOA General Membership Meeting will continue as planned and be held virtually. Members will be notified of the exact date, time and call-in information.
How do I register?
Registration for the online, Virtual Convention is now available via the MOA website at www.mainedo.org. Please login and register as normal via the event page.
