Authentic Presence Inventory Certification Workshop

May 30, 2015 09:00am -
May 30, 2015 04:30pm

Event Description

Kathryn Stanley, Ph.D., instructor

The conventional view is that leadership or executive presence is fundamentally an outer phenomenon, having to do with how one appears, and that it comes naturally to a select few, e.g., executives. However, research indicates that a person’s authentic leadership presence is first and foremost an inner experience, having to do with how one thinks and feels.  Additionally, it’s not an all–or-nothing quality, which a few people have and most people don’t. Rather, it’s a personal process, a habitual integration of one’s thoughts, feelings and actions, which is developed incrementally, and becomes more impactful over time. The ability of an individual to be fully present in the moment is a determinant of their authentic presence.

This full day workshop includes each participant taking the Authentic Presence Inventory (APITM) 360* prior to the workshop and debriefing the results through experiential and reflective learning. The workshop will train individuals in a model of authentic presence and applications for executive coaching and professional development work. Participants will learn to speak to the instrument’s psychometric strengths and learn debriefing techniques with individuals and teams.

Upon completion of the program the student will be able to:

  • Identify strengths and areas to improve on their authentic presence per use of the APITM 360
  • Explain the tool’s psychometric strengths
  • Demonstrate facilitative exercises to debrief the API with their own clients
  • Discuss current research on authentic presence and leadership as it relates to the API.
  • Describe effective feedback techniques in order to help another person see blind spots and strengths revealed by the API during 360 feedback.

Program Code: APIC6
6 CE Credits
Location: at MSPP, Newton

Fee: $595* which includes taking the Authentic Presence Inventory (APITM) 360 prior to the workshop.

*IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: Participants must register for this program at least one month before the workshop date. Participants will need to provide Dr. Stanley with their 360 raters, including supervisors, subordinates if they have any, peers, colleagues and friends so that they can take the API to give them feedback. Participants will get this report before the workshop.

NOTE: At the end of the workshop requirements for certification will be discussed including 3 coaching sessions and 3 complimentary API self instruments to use with clients. Once each participant has completed the certification requirements they will join the API practitioner community and have access the API and API 360 on the API website where they can purchase the instrument at a reduced rate to use with their executive coaching and team clients.  Additional Certification Coaching is $300
