Accessing the Child Mind:
Using Bibliotherapy with Children who have Experienced Complex Trauma
Wednesday, March 18th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm
Melissa Moses, PsyD and Alison MacEachern, LMHC will present on the effects of complex trauma on young children. They will focus specifically on the effects of trauma on the development of self-esteem and self-efficacy. They will discuss ways in which bibliotherapy can be a useful tool for clinicians and have their children’s book Alex and the Scary Things available for purchase. Melissa and Alison will outline how Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed the story. They will also present art/expressive therapy activities that complement the skills presented in the story.

Melissa Moses, PsyD, is an Assistant Psychologist at McLean Hospital. She has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. Melissa has a private practice in Belmont, MA and specializes in treating survivors of trauma and the treatment of substance use disorders. She also has an MFA in Creative Writing from Lesley University.
Alison MacEachern, LMHC, graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. in Studio Art where she gained experience in illustration and graphic design. Alison has a master's degree from Lesley University in Expressive Therapy, and has a private practice where she does Art Therapy, working primarily with children and adolescents. Alison is also co-president of New England Art Therapy Association.
