Clinical Supervision for Practicing School Psychologists - Wednesdays

Sep 26, 2012 04:30pm -
Nov 28, 2012 06:30pm

Event Description

Clinical Supervision for Practicing School Psychologists

Wednesdays, 4:30 – 6:30 pm, 9/26, 10/3, 10/17, 11/7, 11/14, 11/28, 12/17/2012.

Instructor: June Bowman, Ed.D.

Beginning in Fall 2012, MSPP will offer group supervision for practicing school psychologists.  Clinical supervision promotes reflective practice, supports ongoing professional development, affords consultation on legal and ethical issues, and helps practitioners effectively address the challenges of providing school psychological services.  Clinical supervision is essential for ongoing development of the skills, knowledge, and professional behaviors that enable schools psychologists to function at a high level and to engage in independent practice.

Participation in a clinical supervision group will:

  • Promote reflective practice and continued development of professional knowledge and skills;
  • Help the practitioner address challenges in providing school psychological services; and
  • Be applicable toward the 60-hour Supervised Clinical Experience requirement for the Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP) credential.

Participants:  This opportunity is open to any graduate of a planned program in school psychology who is concurrently employed as a school psychologist in Massachusetts.  It is intended for school psychologists who have little or no access to clinical supervision in their jobs, especially early career school psychologists.

Supervisors:  Experienced school psychology trainers who qualify as an Approved Supervisor, per Educational Psychologist licensure requirements (see http://www.mass.gov/ocabr/licensee/dpl-boards/mh/regulations/rules-and-regs/262-cmr-500.html).

Schedule:  Supervision groups of up to six (6) participants will meet on a given weekday for 16 two-hour sessions over the course of a school year.  Each group has 7 initially scheduled fall dates, as indicated.  The remaining 9 winter/spring dates will be scheduled with input from group members.

Note:  MSPP will not be offering PDPs or CE credits for this activity, as there is no pre-determined curriculum.

Program Code: CS12-4

Fee: $800 for one year (16 Sessions)

Location: at MSPP, Newton
