Power of Ten Leadership Program

We are bringing to Maine the Power of Ten Leadership Program. A national program for new graduates, this program will provide you with tools to be more effective not only in your practice, but in your life. More information and the application process.

Practice Act Update

With our “Act to Update Maine’s Veterinary Practice Act” now having been passed by a virtually unanimous override of the Governor’s veto, this bill is now law, effective late September (90 days after the Legislature adjourns). The new provisions of law are here. There are no major changes from present law. Many of the updates are simply to language, particularly regarding veterinary technicians. Perhaps the most significant provision is that Maine law for the first time includes a Veterinarian- Client-Patient Relationship requirement, as set forth at the very end of the new legislation. The language now incorporated into Maine law is mostly taken from the AVMA Model State Practice Act, which Maine’s Dr. Susan Chadima helped write.

MVMA Scholarship Awards

Our Association encourages Maine’s veterinary students to return to Maine to practice. In this regard, our Maine Veterinary Education Foundation awards a number of scholarships to students –including veterinary technicians--completing their education. To read more about the students awarded scholarships this year, please click here.  Any Maine student enrolled in a school of veterinary medicine is welcome to dues-free membership in our Association.
