Session Description:
Our preliterate and ancient storytelling often tells the story of the super human capacity to transform suffering. The concept of our human capacity for positive psychological change which occurs as the result of one’s struggle with a traumatic event is thousands of years old (Calhoun & Tedeschi, 2006). The loss of a loved one/friend is the most fundamental of all human experiences and although universal to humankind, grief in the context of bereavement can be experienced as one of life’s most distressing and/or traumatic life’s passages (Harrington & Neimeyer, 2021). Through the lens of modern mythical superhero narratives, this webinar will help participants better understand the concept of Post Traumatic Growth in the context of bereavement, identify the five factors associated with PTG (Moore, 2021), and help social workers enhance the power of the therapeutic alliance in bereavement counseling.

If a registrant cancels more than 10 days before the event, a refund will be issued by check or credit back to your credit card, minus a 10% administrative fee.
If cancelation occurs less than 10 days prior to the event, no refund will be issued but you may request a credit towards a future training to be used within 1 year of the cancelation date. Call the Chapter Office (804-204-1339) to cancel within 10 days of the training. A request for credit may be granted at the discretion of the Executive Director in case of a documented emergency.
