This is a joint NATCO / ASHI webinar.

Speaker:     Michael D. Gautreaux, Ph.D., D.ABHI   

HLA for Beginners is intended to be an introduction to HLA and immunogenetics for all transplant professionals wishing to know the basics of HLA's functions in transplantation. Topics covered will be HLA's role in the immune system and, consequently, transplant rejection, HLA typing and HLA antibody testing, specifically PRA testing and crossmatching. 

Objectives:

  • Identify basic biological principles underlying the central role of HLA in the immune system and, consequently, the transplant rejection process
     
  • Apply basic concepts of HLA antibody testing and its role in the transplantation process
     
  • Understand basic concepts and utility of the cross match and its role in the transplantation process

Target Audience:     Transplant Coordinators, ASHI members
