In this course, Martin Mayer discusses the elements of an acronym that can be used to assist in “drugectomy”. Topics covered include parsing a medication list for purposes of reconciliation, identifying commonly seen medication regimens that are unnecessary or even potentially deleterious, developing a plan for removing or reducing medications that are either no longer needed or no longer needed at the current dose, and engaging patients in shared decision-making regarding pharmacotherapeutic regimens.
