State Capital Improvement Budget Includes $100 Million for Clean Ohio

3/18/2014

The state capital improvements budget was introduced this morning in the Ohio House.  The bill includes $100 million in funding for the Clean Ohio program.  It sets aside $75 million for open space preservation, $12.5 million for trails, and $12.5 million for farmland preservation.

“This is a huge win for us,” said OPRA Executive Director Woody Woodward.  “The hard work which so many of our members have done on this issue has clearly made a difference.”  Woodward said the bill will likely move through the House during the next couple of weeks before being considered by the Senate.

“I feel really good about where we are,” Woodward said.  “The fact that this money was in the Governor’s budget proposal bodes well for us.  Legislators on both sides of the aisle have generally been very supportive of the program.”
