More detailed description
This Elimination of Bias CLE will look at how chemical dependency affects family law cases and what the practitioner should know when working with families affected by chemical dependency. The presentation will educate attorneys about the biases and hurdles faced by clients with chemical dependency disabilities. First, the program will look at what is chemical dependency and what practitioners can look for when assessing whether there is chemical dependency problems (including co-dependency) within a family. Next, we will look at how best to manage, sometimes difficult, client relationships when the client has chemical dependency or co-dependency issues. Finally, we will talk about possible solutions to problems in chemical dependency cases from presenters’ experience, input from the Bench, and available resources including chemical testing, technology to manage parenting time, and treatment for the chemically dependent individual and family.
