Claims of caregiver discrimination are on the rise and, more and more, plaintiffs are proving quite successful in their claims. But what is caregiver discrimination? This course will address the legal bases for such claims, focusing especially on the causes of action relevant to women in the workplace who have children. We will provide substantive information about the law in this area along with practical strategies to help your firm and your clients avoid such claims of discrimination, both by preventing caregiver discrimination in the first instance and by responding appropriately to claims of caregiver discrimination. We will also address this issue specifically as it pertains to the legal profession, an area where gender discrimination persists, again offering practical tips for lawyers who happen to be mothers and the firms who want to retain and fairly reward these talented women.
