Barista Guild of America Level 1 Certification Exam
Todd Goldsworthy and Heather Perry will proctor this exam which covers fundamental concepts for baristas, including preparation, coffee knowledge, customer service, and sensory skills. The exam is an excellent way to test baristas’ knowledge and skill base, ensuring their comprehensive knowledge of fundamental espresso concepts. Both Practical and Written portions of the exam will be offered.
The exam is $20.00 for BGA Members / $65.00 for SCAA/RG Members / $100 for Non Members (you must sign-up for Barista Guild membership in order to receive member pricing). Become a member of the Barista Guild today!

Recommended prerequisites to taking the Level 1 Certification Exam*:
CP101 Introduction to Espresso Part 1
CP102 Introduction to Espresso Part 2
GE103 Introduction to Cupping
CP151 Introduction to Coffee Brewing & Extraction
CP103 Introduction to Customer Service
CP190 Level 1 Certification Test
* Please note: Experienced baristas can choose to pursue and obtain Level 1 Certification by achieving a passing score in CP190 AND attending CP103 (may test out of all other requirements). Must take CP103 - Intro to Customer Service to obtain your BGA Level 1 Certification (this requirement may be completed AFTER the certification exam is taken).
