Libraries are a fantastic wealth of information. We are pioneers in circular economy. When we loan books and have them returned, we are supporting this idea of use and reuse. However, by the other side of it: libraries can be exceptionally wasteful. Can libraries combat the amount of waste they generate?

You will learn: 

1) How to run eco-friendly programming
2) How zero waste/low waste can work in a library setting
3) How library staff can be a key component to environmental change through education and policy.

About the presenter: 

Samantha Marchello is a Discovery Assistant at Aurora Public Library, and graduated from Seneca College’s Library & Information Technician program in 2015, and has an Honours B.A in English Literature and East Asian Studies from York University. Samantha is passionate about children’s and teen services, and is interested in sharing her knowledge regarding the environment to a variety of audiences. She loves reading, gaming, and animals, and is loved by a Labrador retriever named Dakota, and an English bulldog named Brutus.
