SEFLIN 2020 Regional Conference
LED SEFLIN: Libraries Exploring Design
LED SEFLIN will be kicked off with a keynote presentation by Minneapolis-based designer and researcher, Julka Almquist. This interactive session will explore both the process and mindsets of Design Thinking for libraries. We will consider how it is a useful approach for libraries to create cultures of curiosity and creativity, as a way to develop solutions in resource-constrained environments, and a tool for organizational change. Design Thinking isn't only about physical design, it can also be used to address planning, roles, services, and programs that can transform your library and its culture. Julka will share examples of how Design Thinking can be transformational, how it can support equity and inclusion and we'll discuss some of its limitations. Finally, because we are experiencing a time of tremendous change, we will discuss how design thinking is relevant to our current context.
Participants can expect opportunities for virtual networking, games and door prizes.
