Event Description

Did you know that about 20% of people consider themselves to be chronic procrastinators? See, don't you feel better already? Even if you're not one of the 20% though, you might agree that most of us have room for improvement in the area of "putting off 'till tomorrow, what could – and should – be done today."

You know how it is…there's a task or project you reallllly don't want to do, so you find a multitude of "reasons" why you can't yet begin. Of course, you know you're just delaying the inevitable, but since there's a "good reason" (is there, really??), you feel justified in postponing what you know really does need to be done now.

So why is it that so many of us struggle in this area? Some of us kid ourselves by telling everyone that we perform better under pressure. In rare instances, that may be true – but it's highly unlikely that better performance is a consistent outcome of procrastinating. Maybe we feel overwhelmed by the number of items to be checked off our to-do list, so we work on the easy ones and add up our checkmarks – leaving other more pressing items undone. Often, we've simply chosen not to overcome this little quirk in our nature because it's what we've always done – and if there's a handy little name for it, it must be okay to move through life this way. It has become our comfort zone, even when we protest loudly that we wish we were different.

If you struggle with procrastination, there are some questions you might want to ask yourself:

  • What opportunities have I missed during the delay?
  • When I delay, do I really produce my best work, or is it just my quickest work?
  • Have I been judged as disorganized because I waited until the last minute?
  • Is the stress from looming deadlines causing health problems?
  • Have I ever disappointed someone because I didn't do my part of a project in a timely manner?
  • Are people reluctant to be on my project team?

And if you'd like to work toward overcoming your tendency to procrastinate, attend this webinar. But don’t wait to register - you know you'll never get around to it if you don't register right now. Join us and learn not only the "why" behind procrastination, but also what to do about it!
