This online class will be held on Tuesday-Wednesday, July 8-9, 2014 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Students must attend both sessions.
In two sessions (two-hours each), we will discuss the issues to consider and questions to ask in planning a digital project when using CONTENTdm as your content management system.
Managing Digital Projects with CONTENTdm introduces new and beginning users to CONTENTdm software. Students will experience the CONTENTdm interface and gain a functional understanding of the software. The class will cover building online collections, adding metadata to items, and creating compound (multidimensional) objects. The class will also discuss digital project issues such as collection specifications, Dublin Core and metadata, controlled vocabularies, and other digital project implementation concerns.
Learning Outcomes:
- Define the audience for digital projects
- Outline goals for a digital program
- Identify criteria for the selection of materials suitable for digitization
- Articulate institutional digitization: digitization in-house or outsourcing
This class will be held in the Lyrasis Adobe Connect meeting room. Log-in information will be emailed approximately one week before the course.
