Event Description

You already provide great story times.

Supercharge your practice to make them even better!

SEFLIN and TBLC have partnered to offer a free training opportunity for library story time practitioners in our region. Whether you are new to story times or a seasoned provider, Supercharged Storytimes has something for you to deepen and enhance your practice.

“As a professional, my goal is to bridge the illiteracy gap from birth to kindergarten, by empowering parents of all educational levels and demonstrating that learning is fun, interactive, and a positive experience. This training helped me not only refine my skills in early learning literacy, but it also gave me the tools, words, information, and validation for the storytimes I provide to the parents and children of our community. This training builds on our Bilingual Preschool Storytime by providing a strong foundation of learning both in the library and through our outreach programs with various organizations in our community.” Participant in SEFLIN’s 2017 Supercharged Storytimes training.

“Going through this program, it really gave me a charge. It gave me that extra boost in confidence that I am doing this right. I have been doing this right.” -Participant in the pilot Supercharged Storytimes training

Based on the powerful VIEWS2 research and ECRR and ECRR2 which confirmed the value of key strategies used in storytimes, SEFLIN has partnered with WebJunction and nationally-recognized early literacy expert Saroj Ghoting to help you translate those findings into practice and enhance your library storytimes.

The training includes the following:

  • Online kickoff on Wednesday, January 2
  • Friday, January 11 Face to Face Workshop, 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm at the Alachua County Library, Cone Park Branch, 2801 E. University Ave, Gainesville, FL  32641
