Have you ever wondered how to build better relationships with stakeholders at your college or university? Are you working to demonstrate the impact that your library has on students, faculty and your community more broadly? Attend this session to learn about OLA’s Advocacy Toolkit and how you can use the resources and templates to effectively advocate for your academic library. Presenters will provide some concrete examples from their advocacy experiences in diverse academic library settings. Attendees will be invited to reflect on their current advocacy activities and brainstorm and share ideas for future initiatives.

About the Presenters:
Jesse Carliner is a Communications and User Services Librarian at the University of Toronto Libraries. In his communications role, he coordinates external communications for the Libraries, including media relations, marketing and promotions, and social media. He is co-chair of the OLA Advocacy Committee.
Natalie Colaiacovo is a librarian at Centennial College. She supports the School of Engineering Technology and Applied Sciences, as well as the library’s makerspace and emerging technology collection. Having worked in the college sector for the past 2 years, Natalie has appreciated the opportunity to advocate for college libraries and librarians through her role as OCULA Councillor-at-Large. Natalie’s previous experience is in education and health libraries.
