About this Session:
At first glance public and special libraries may seem worlds apart, but by finding common ground, they can work together for the benefit of all their patrons. Find out how Yukon Public Libraries and the Yukon Energy, Mines & Resources Library have partnered on a variety of programs and outreach projects, and the positive outcomes that have resulted from working together. They will also describe some of the challenges that may be encountered with such a partnership and how these can be overcome.
The webinar will explore:
- ideas and inspiration to improve programming and outreach by working with your local public or special library
- the benefits of public and special libraries working together
- overcoming challenges and logistical issues that may occur
- finding the confidence to reach outside your organization
About the Presenters:
Sarah Gallagher is the Outreach Librarian at Yukon Public Libraries. When not talking about, thinking about, or doing library stuff, you can find her trying out new ways to cook wild meat, making sourdough bread, or helping out her husband at their tattoo shop in downtown Whitehorse.
Anna Pearson is the Manager of the Yukon Energy, Mines & Resources Library in Whitehorse. She believes that while you can take the librarian out of the public library, you may not be able to get her to stop programming.
