Browser and Smartphone Privacy Tips Webinar

Recent news about social media, smartphone apps, and data breaches highlight the fact that much of our online activity is tracked, monetized, and often tied to our offline identities. Fortunately, there are steps we can all take to keep our online activities and identities more private. This webinar will cover tips and strategies to more privately browse the internet and use smartphones Topics will include:

  • Privacy tips and extensions for popular Internet browsers
  • Smartphone privacy tips
  • Privacy-focused Internet searching
  • Tips for Teaching Others

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify 3 browser extensions to increase online privacy
  • Identify 3 Smartphone settings and features to increase privacy
  • Incorporate these tools and tips into existing classes

Presenter: Joshua Stone

Joshua Stone is the Director of Staff Development for SEFLIN. Joshua has over a decade of experience teaching technology courses to patrons and library staff. He is a graduate of the inaugural cohort of the Library Freedom Institute, a partnership between New York University and the Library Freedom Project to set up a network of online privacy advocates and trainers.
