Jun 04, 2013 05:00pm

Event Description

This workshop will provide tools and information geared towards library staff who work with patrons and communities facing the realities of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. In addition, staff who have friends or family that are affected by this disease will learn what resources are available so that they can best support their loved ones.

The presenters will discuss the normal functions of the brain and normal aging vs. dementia. Attendees will learn the common treatable causes vs. non-treatable causes of dementia and receive an overview of the dementia disorders. We will review the diagnostic process and a more specific overview of Alzheimer’s disease.
