The Anxious Weeder: Keeping Your Collection Fresh
7/4/2019
10:30am - 11:30am

About this Session:
Teacher librarians, library technicians and other school library staff often inherit their spaces and are not starting from the ground up.  When the space is overwhelming and you don't know where to start, weeding a collection can seem insurmountable and cause plenty of anxiety.  Learn a few strategies to keep anxiety at bay when weeding your school library collection and turn your floundering field into a manicured masterpiece!
Participants will learn:
1. Why school library collections should be weeded on a regular basis
2. What needs to be regularly removed from a school's library collection
3. Practical steps that can be taken to harness this overwhelming task

About the Presenter:
Philip Wasley currently serves as Branch Services Coordinator with King Township Public Library.  He previously served as a Library Systems Technician with the Toronto District School Board for over 5+ years which included revitalizing scores of school libraries and their spaces.  He loves board games, cooking, film and nature.
