Event Description

Library Fundraising During a Crisis
January 4, 2021 - February 5, 2021
5-Week Asynchronous ALA Course

While we don’t know how long the COVID-19 pandemic will last, we are already feeling the economic impact, and it will be felt long after the virus has receded. Many libraries are already seeing cuts to their funding, with more likely to come as communities come to grips with the realities of budget cuts and reduced tax revenue. We will all need to adapt, and it will be essential for librarians to be able to generate sustained revenue through fundraising.

In this five-week eCourse, Ed Rossman provides interactive, in-depth instruction on how to administer and promote dozens of fundraising methods that will help your library attain a better financial position. You will learn strategies to approach and develop prospects, valuable tips on how to utilize new technologies, and gain an understanding of legalities, tax, and organizational concerns.

Rossman will use real-world case studies to highlight underutilized opportunities in libraries that will strengthen both your library’s funding and community partnerships. You’ll come away from the course with the ability to establish proper value for various programs and services, create supportive internal mechanisms, and generate promotional materials that will aid you in finding and generating new funding sources for your library.
