Do you find it difficult to communicate the relevance of a resource to your manager?

Or are you a solo library worker who might have to defend the existence of your library?

Second in the series on “advocacy for special libraries”, this webinar will show you how to advocate for the resources and support you need to excel in providing services to your clients and delivering value for the organization. Library professionals Maggie Weaver and Ulla de Stricker, author of “Business Cases for Info Pros: Here’s Why, Here’s How”, explain how to use a business case approach to demonstrate the value of a project or investment to decision makers. This session covers what is, and is in, a business case; what sort of info you collect, and where it comes from; and how to put together a convincing presentation, i.e. how to “make the case”.

You will learn:

1) What goes into a business case;
2) Where to find convincing information; and
3) How to construct different cases for your audience.

About the presenters:

Maggie Weaver has been an independent information professional since 2002. As such, she has to make a business case – to a potential client – for every project. She’s also been to many, many library conferences, and convinced her boss to fund that out-of-office activity.

Ulla de Stricker is an information consultant, who since 1992 has helped clients develop business cases to maximize the return on investment from their spending on information and knowledge related resources and tools.
